I have not attempted to start playing with Masterbus controlling the 120 volt A.C. I have read reports of other companies saving some 800lbs of wiring in a 42 ft boat ! WOW that seems like alot, but after playing with this system for a week I can honestly say that I think it is possible. I do feel that this type of system will be beneficial in saving the amount of wiring in the boat. but it is pretty simple after you learn a little about the program. Connect the 2 wires of the device into the pods, go to that pod on the configuration screen and tell it what you want it to do. Programming of the system seems to be straight forward. you just pull out the fuse and insert it into the other slot and bam. Mastervolt has really thought about the "what if the program fails" scenario. There are 2 slots in which the fuses can be inserted, 1 slot is controlled by the network and the other slot is a forced on position. The pods, as I call them, that each device connects to has 10 outputs each with a 10amp ATM fuse. Possible that I may need their USB interface to configure it but that is.

Although I still have not figured out how the State Of Charge stays at 98% with a battery voltage of 12.2 volts. Re: Mastervolt Masterbus NMEA 2000 I called Mastervolt today, and all I need to get the PowerCharge 12/40-3 on the N2K is a Shunt Part : 77020110, plus the Masterbus NMEA2000 Interface and I can show volts, current, state of charge and battery temp on my other displays. You can really get specific on the voltages that the battery sees while charging. How cool is that? controlling the charger is something else that I could really get into. So far I REALLy like the info that the shunt can display, and you can have multiple shunts on the boat and have Masterbus do all the calculating. Masterbus does have an interface that allows NMEA 2000 data to be displayed on the network but I have yet to test that device and its capabilities.

Masterbus operates on the CANbus (Controller Area Network bus) system as opposed to others that use NMEA 2000 for the network. For 4-20mA sensors, you will need to add a 250 ohms, 1% tolerance resistor and then create a calibration table with two points, 1 and 5 volts that will correspond with the maximum and minimum values of the sensor. For the past few weeks I have been bench testing a whole slew of Masterbus devices and learning the capabilities of this fairly new distributed power system. You can also connect to the W connection of the alternator as described in the Alba-Combi Manual. If this is the case, as an alternative, you can often connect to the Ignition Coil of a gas engine. For example, if the RPM sensor is reading the teeth of the flywheel and say we have 120 teeth and the max rpm is 4000 rpm, that will equate to 120 pulses-rpm * (4000rpm/60sec) = 8000 pulses-per-revolution or 8000hz, this will not be compatible with the Alba-Combi for RPM sensing. This equates to about 60 pulses per revolution at 4000 rpm, anything higher than that will not be compatible. For RPM the Alba-Combi can handle a maximum input signal of 4000hz.PGN 130316 – Temperature, Extended Rangeĭimensions: 105 x 86 x 59 mm (DIN 43880 size 6).PGN 127493 – Transmission Parameters, Dynamic. On this page, you will find an overview, as well as links to all the detailed information. Many Victron Energy products can be integrated into an NMEA 2000 network. Use a SmartShunt for each battery bank you want to monitor, such as: Bow thruster Stern thruster House Bank 2 More. PGN 127489 – Engine Parameters, Dynamic The NMEA 2000 protocol is a plug-and-play communications standard used for connecting marine sensors and display units within ships and boats. You can add as many Balmar SG230 SmartShunts to your Balmar SG200/SG230 system as you like The SmartShunt is NMEA2000 Certified, and includes a SmartLink communication cable to connect to your existing SG200 network. It can also be used to connect a single VE.CAN product, for example a Blue-Solar MPPT 150/70 or Lynx Shunt VE.CAN, to a NMEA 2000 network. All VE.CAN messages are available on the NMEA 2000 network and vice versa.
